Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the speaking skills of high-class students at SD N 200111 Padangsidimpuan, describing the factors that influence the speaking skills of high-class students and describe solutions to improve the speaking skills of high-class students. This research is quantitative descriptive. The method used in this study is a survey with test and measurement techniques. The research subjects were 62 students in grades IV, V and VI in the SD N 200111 Padangsidimpuan. The instruments to be used are guidelines for product evaluation, interviews and observations. The results showed that the analysis of the results of the speaking skills tests of high school students at SD N 200111 Padangsidimpuan showed that there were no students in the excellent category (0%), 16 students (25.80%) good categories, 26 good enough students (41.93%) , there are less than 20 students (32.25%). By looking at the results of the test, the level of speaking skills of high-class students belongs to the fairly good category, namely as many as 26 students from 62 high-class students (41.93%). Factors that influence students' speaking skills are teacher factors, student factors and facilities and infrastructure factors.
