Abstract

Artikel penelitian memfasilitasi seseorang untuk belajar menganalisis data, merumuskan kesimpulan, dan mengidentifikasi tindak lanjut arah penelitian selayaknya proses yang dilakukan oleh ilmuwan sehingga penting untuk menguasai kemampuan membaca artikel penelitian. Kemampuan membaca artikel penelitian penting untuk dikembangkan, termasuk bagi mahasiswa tahun pertama untuk mempersiapkan segala keterampilan dan kemampuan dalam penulisan tugas akhir nantinya. Kemampuan membaca artikel penelitian diukur berdasarkan kemampuan dalam  mengidentifikasi rethorical moves artikel. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan membaca artikel penelitian mahasiswa pascasarjana tahun pertama Pendidikan Biologi Universitas Negeri Malang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah survey dengan sampel mahasiswa sebanyak 63. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan membaca artikel penelitian dari mahasiswa pascarjana tahun pertama Pendidikan Biologi Universitas Negeri Malang  termasuk pada level rendah dilihat dari rendahnya kemampuan dalam  mengidentifikasi rethorical moves artikel. Aspek yang paling mudah diidentifikasi oleh mahasiswa yaitu objective (jawaban benar 50,79%) dan motive (jawaban benar 34,92%), sedangkan aspek yang sulit diidentifikasi yaitu conclusion (jawaban benar 22,22%), implication (jawaban benar 28,52%), counterargument (jawaban benar 25,40%), dan refutation (jawaban benar 19,05%).
