This research employed a qualitative ethnographic approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation with three main informants: a traditional leader and two experienced weavers. Data analysis used domain, taxonomy, componential, and cultural-theme stages. The findings show that weaving activities contain mathematical elements such as counting (the number of threads and repeated patterns), measuring (length and width of the cloth using non-standard units such as hand-span), and designing (forming geometric patterns such as squares, triangles, rhombuses, and lines of symmetry). Ethnomathematics in the Buna motif reflects an integration between local culture and mathematical concepts of geometry and number patterns that can be used as contextual learning resources.

Keyword: Ethnomathematics, Buna woven cloth, Letmafo culture, mathematics learning
2026-03-18T15:07:45+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://journal.ipts.ac.id/index.php/MathEdu/article/view/8088PERAN ETNOMATEMATIKA DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA2026-03-25T17:24:16+00:00Rajiun Siregarrajiunsrg672@gmail.comSuparni Suparnisuparni2793@gmail.com
Abstract This study aims to determine the effectiveness of ethnomathematics-based learning in mathematics learning. This research is a library research with a qualitative approach. The method of collecting data is by means of document studies and analyzed by technical descriptive analysis. Library research is research whose data comes from books, dictionaries, documents, magazines, journals and so on. (Harahap, 2014) While the analytical technique used is descriptive analysis technique by looking at research data that has been done by previous people related to ethnomathematical research. This is evidenced by research studies that have been carried out by researchers who have done previously which will be mentioned in the discussion of this research. Therefore, ethnomathematics can be used by teachers in conducting effective and fun learning, besides that ethnomathematics can improve students' mathematical abilities such as the results of research that will be discussed in this discussion and can increase the love of students to understand their own culture.
2026-03-18T15:08:26+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://journal.ipts.ac.id/index.php/MathEdu/article/view/7847IMPLEMENTASI KURIKULUM MERDEKA PADA PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA DI UPTD SMP NEGERI 8 GUNUNGSITOLI2026-03-25T17:24:16+00:00Sari Santi Siapudan Lasesantilase14@gmail.comYakin Niat Telaumbanuayakinniattelaumbanua@gmail.comRatna Natalia Mendrofaratnamend@gmail.comNetti Kariani Mendrofanetti.mend14@gmail.com
This research is based on a preliminary study conducted through initial observations at UPTD SMP Negeri 8 Gunungsitoli, which reavealed that teachers are still in the adjustment stage to the independent curriculum, leading to suboptimal implementation. Low student motivation, inadequate mathematics learning facilities and infrastructure, and limited resources encouranged the researcher to investigate the extent of the independent curriculum implementation, learning, and assessment at the school. This study employs a qualitative research method with data colleted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The instruments used included interviews with teacher, student, and several school administration. Data analysis consisted of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing using qualitative deskriptive analysis techniques. The findings of this research indicate that teachers have prepared learning plans based on the independent curriculum. although the implementation has not been fully optimal. Teachers have integrated the main components of the independent curriculum into the learning process, but some still encounter abstracles due to a lack of facilities and resources. Overall , the independent curriculum has been implemented and has shown positive results in learning, thought improvements are still needed to achieve maximum outcomes.

2026-03-18T15:09:03+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://journal.ipts.ac.id/index.php/MathEdu/article/view/7186PENGEMBANGAN E-MODUL BERBASIS PENDEKATAN HEURISTIK UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIS SISWA KELAS VIII-2 SMP NEGERI 1 MARANCAR2026-03-25T17:24:16+00:00Nanda Sarinandasariharahap25@gmail.comRoslian Lubisiroslianlubis@gamail.comRahmatika Elindratika24elindra@gmail.com
The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the contextual learning model on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities on the material of two-variable linear equation systems in Class X of SMK Negeri 1 Angkola Timur. The type of research used by the researcher is quantitative research. In this study, the researcher used the True-Experienced Design design with the One Group Pretest and Posttest Design type. The population was all students of Class X at SMK Negeri 1 Angkola Timur consisting of 6 classes totaling 92 students. Based on the data analysis, the researcher drew conclusions based on the results of data collection, there was an effectiveness of the contextual learning model on the material of two-variable linear equation systems on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. This is evidenced by the results of the paired sample test that has been conducted in the experimental class. It can be concluded that H0 in the experimental class is rejected and Ha is accepted because the sig value (2-tailed) in the experimental class is 0.00 less than 0.05. Furthermore, based on inferential statistics using the pair sample t-test, (SPSS version 27), the results show a significance value of less than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). This means that the constructivism learning model is effectively used for the mathematical problem solving abilities of class X students of SMK Negeri 1 Angkola Timur.
2026-03-18T15:13:17+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://journal.ipts.ac.id/index.php/MathEdu/article/view/7350PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN MENGGUNAKAN GAME EDUCAPLAY MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIKA KELAS VII SMP NEGERI 3 PADANGSIDIMPUAN2026-03-25T17:24:17+00:00Ummi Fadillaummif44@gmail.comEva Yanti Siregarevayantisiregar87@gmail.comSinar Depi Harahapsinardepiharahap@gmail.com
This study aims to develop a learning medium using the Educaplay game to enhance the mathematical problem-solving skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Padangsidimpuan. The research subject was one student who demonstrated a variety of strategies in solving contextual 2D geometry problems. Data were collected through written tasks and semi-structured interviews, and were analyzed based on the components of commognitive discourse, namely the use of mathematical terms, visual representations, argumentative narratives, and solution patterns. The findings indicate that creative thinking is manifested through variations in representation, flexibility of strategies, originality in constructing arguments, and elaboration of mathematical explanations. These findings suggest that creativity can be identified through the structure of students’ mathematical communication and contribute theoretically to the integration of creativity within mathematical discourse analysis.
2026-04-01T07:38:46+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##
