Abstract

This study aims to know there is a significant effectiveness of using pair checks model on students’ mathematical reasoning ability at the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 1 TantomAngkola. The research was conducted by using experimental method with 30 students as the sample and they were taken by using random sampling technique from 183 students. Test and observation were used in collecting the data. Based on descriptive analysis, it could be found (a) the average of using pair checks model was 3.6 (very good category) and  b) the average of students’ mathematical reasoning ability before using pair checks model was 64.20 (enough category) and after using pair checks model was 77.87 (good category). Furthermore, based on inferential statistic by using paired sample and helping SPSS version 16, it could be found the significant value was less than 0.05 (0.000<0.05). It means, there is a significant effectiveness of using pair checks model on students’ mathematical reasoning ability at the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 1 TantomAngkola.
