EFEKTIVITAS PENDEKATAN OPEN-ENDED TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS MATEMATIS SISWA DI MAN TAPANULI SELATAN
Abstract
Abstract
This study aims to know the effectiveness of open ended approach on students’ mathematical critical thinking ability on the topic trigonometry at the tenth grade students of MAN Tapanuli Selatan. The research was conducted by using experimental method (one group pretest post test design) with 38 students as the sample and they were taken by using simple random sampling technique from 148 students. Observation and test were used in collecting the data. Based on descriptive analysis, it could be found (a) the average of open ended approach was 3.11 (very good category) and (b) the average of students’ mathematical critical thinking ability on the topic trigonometry before open ended approach was 45.29 (fair category) and after open ended approach was 75.66 (good category). Furthermore, based on inferential statistic by using pair sample ttest and help SPSS version 17 showed the significant value was less than 0.05 (0.000<0.05) and by using effect size, the result showed G = 0.55 (middle category). It means, open ended approach was effective on students’ mathematical critical thinking ability on the topic trigonometry at the tenth grade students of MAN Tapanuli Selatan.
