Abstract

This study aimed to know the description of the applying of the improve learning model, mathematical problem solving ability, and whether there was any  effectiveness of the improve learning model on the mathematical problem solving ability at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 7 Padangsidimpuan. The research method was an experiment with a one-group pretest posttest design. The


sample was 24 students which taken by using cluster random sampling technique from 78 The research instrument used a problem-solving ability test and an observation sheet. The results showed that the average of using the improve learning model was 3.14 (very good) and the average mathematical problem solving ability of students before using the improve learning model was 60.20 (enough category) and after using the improve learning model 82.12 (very good). Based on the hypothesis test using a paired sample t-test, it showed a significant score of less than 0.05 (0.000 <0.50) so Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It was concluded the applying of the improve learning model, mathematical problem solving ability, and whether there was any  effectiveness of the improve learning model on the mathematical problem solving ability at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 7
