Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to know the effectiveness of using TSTS learning model on students’ mathematical problem solving ability on the topic trigonometry at the tenth grade students of SMA Swasta Abdi Utama Sibuhuan. The research was conducted by using experimental method (one group pretest post test design) with 28 students as the sample and they were taken by using total sampling technique. Observation and test were used in collecting the data. Based on descriptive analysis, it could be found (a) the average of TSTS learning model was 3.3 (very good category) and b) the average of students’ mathematical problem solving ability on the topic trigonometry before using TSTS learning model was 52.12(fair category) and after using TSTS learning model was 79.10 (good category). Furthermore, based on inferential statistic by using pair sample ttest  and help SPSS version 17 showed the significant value was less than 0.05 (0.000<0.05) and by using N-Gain, the result showed G = 0.54 (middle category). It means, TSTS learning model was effective on students’ mathematical problem solving ability on the topic trigonometry at the tenth grade students of SMA Swasta Abdi Utama Sibuhuan
